Mumbai Police Crime Branch cracked a theft case within 48 hours and arrested a 22-year-old youth on Wednesday afternoon.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch cracked a theft case within 48 hours and arrested a 22-year-old youth on Wednesday afternoon. Dungarshi Rajput was arrested for allegedly stealing heaters and filters worth Rs 13 lakh from a ceramic shop in Vile Parle.

The incident took place at Shivam Ceramics on Hanuman Road. A Crime Branch officer said the accused used a duplicate key to enter the shop.

“When the owner reached the shop on Sunday morning,he found the shutter open. He then registered a case at the Vile Parle police station,” said a Crime Branch officer,who did not wish to be named.

He said,“We got information that a former employee could be involved in the theft. We began investigating on those lines and got some leads.”

“Acting on a tip-off,we laid a trap and nabbed Rajput on Wednesday. He has confessed to his role and revealed that one of his accomplices is a former employee of the shop. We are on the lookout for other accused,”the officer added.
