The economic offences wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police is probing alleged irregularities in Patliputra Cooperative Housing Society, whose members include serving and retired bureaucrats, such as former civic chief Subodh Kumar, and cops.
A site inspection by BMC in 2010 found illegal alterations on the ground and first floors of the society. Civic officials also found walls dividing 12 shops on the ground floor illegally removed to pave the way for a departmental store. Alterations were also made to combine two shops on the first floor and sheds built in areas marked as open spaces on both floors.
In March last year,Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan transferred the probe to EOW following allegations that society members were pressuring police.
Another missing file includes blueprints of Taj Hotel in Colaba.
Yadav said,The file went missing before the 26/11 terror attack. It could have provided vital information to terrorists. It is a major security lapse.
The missing files might also include plans of buildings in major violation of construction norms. There is definitely a builder-official nexus.
