Charge sheet filed in Lohariya murder case

Mumbai Police Crime Branch filed a charge sheet Thursday against eight of nine accused of murdering Navi Mumbai builder Sunil Kumar Lohariya.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch filed a charge sheet Thursday against eight of nine accused of murdering Navi Mumbai builder Sunil Kumar Lohariya. Lohariya was gunned down in broad daylight on February 16,2013,outside his office in Vashi by Venkatesh Shettiar and Wajid Qureshi. The murder was a result of alleged “business disputes”. “The charge sheet names former police officer Emmanuel Amolik,businessman Sumit Bachchewar,shooters Shettiar and Qureshi,Altaf Khan,Naseer Ansari,Kailash Gomane and Rajeev Chauri alias Frances,” said a senior crime branch officer,adding,“A supplementary charge sheet will be filed against Bhupesh Gupta,a Navi Mumbai cable operator. Businessmen Suresh Bijlani,SP Gupta and Anurag Garg have been shown as absconding.”

Student suicide: Interim probe report submitted

NEARLY a week after Nitin Padalkar,a student of Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT) in Nerul,committed suicide last Friday alleging harassment by two fellow students,RAIT authorities probing the incident have submitted an interim report to Mumbai University. The report says Pradeep Paikrao and Gaurav Madhvi,the students named by Padalkar in his suicide note,have been suspended. While the aspect of ragging is also being probed,the report says the college follows all regulations and has active anti-ragging and students grievance cells.
