Central Bank outplay Mumbai Port Trust

Central Bank of India (CBI) proved too good for Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) as they notched up a convincing 5-1 win in a Super Division play-off match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2012-13,at the St. Xavier’s ground,Parel,on Wednesday afternoon.

Showing good understanding and working as a cohesive unit,the bankmen enjoyed a comfortable 2-1 half-time lead before adding three more goals in the second period to complete the margin of victory.

The hero of Central Bank’s victory was their nippy striker Sajid Ansari,who netted the opening two goals in the 13th and 23rd minutes. Melwyn Vaz (48th min),Hitesh Chodankar (78th min) and Russel Galbano (89th min) chipped in with the remaining three goals. Jagjit Singh struck the lone consolation goal for the losers in the 42nd minute.

Later in a battle between two teams comprising of upcoming players,Mumbai Tigers Under-19 and Kenkre FC Under-19 shared the spoils as they were locked in a 0-0 draw.

Both teams created plenty of openings at either end,but the strikes were unable to capitalise on the chances and as a result the match ended in a goalless stalemate.

Results – at St. Xavier’s ground,Parel – Super Div: Central Bank of India 5 (Sajid Ansari 2,Melwyn Vaz,Hitesh Chodankar,Russel Galbano) beat Mumbai Port Trust 1 (Jagjit Singh); Mumbai Tigers Under-19 0 drew with Kenkre FC Under-19 0.

KSA free football camp from April 25

The Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) will be organising a free Summer Football Coaching Camp for boys and girls between the age group of 12 to 16 years at the KSA ground,Cross Maidan,from April 25,2013.
