An CBI officer was found dead at his Tagore Nagar residence in Vikhroli on Monday afternoon.
According to the Vikhroli police, Dayaram Madav (57), a sub-inspector with the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Bureau in Mumbai, hanged himself with from the ceiling fan in the bedroom after a tiff with his wife.
The police said Madav locked himself in the bedroom after an argument with wife. When he failed to emerge after two hours, his wife knocked on the door several times. “When there was no response, she raised an alarm after which the door was broken. Madav was found hanging from the ceiling fan. He was rushed to Rajawadi hospital where he was declared dead before admission,” said senior inspector Mahipat Indalkar of Vikhroli police station.
“There seem to have been a lot of arguments between Madav and his wife. We are trying to find out more. The reason behind the suicide is not yet clear,” Additional Commissioner of Police (east region) Quaiser Khalid said.
Madav wanted to sell the flat they were staying in, but his wife opposed it, police said, adding that they have recorded the statement of his wife and neighbours and were probing further.
