Cases against traders to be withdrawn: Patil

More than 200 businessmen were named in cases filed in Mumbai in April and May.

Cases registered against traders and businessmen who had protested against imposition of Local Body Tax (LBT) would be withdrawn within 30-45 days,home minister R R Patil said on Saturday. BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha,along with members of the Federation of Association of Maharashtra,Metal and Stainless Steel Merchants Association,met Patil regarding the issue.

More than 200 businessmen were named in cases filed in Mumbai in April and May.

“The Home Minister discussed the concerns of the representatives and found in an inquiry at his level that the movement was more or less peaceful. He said he would try and expedite the process of withdrawal of cases,” said Milap Kanungo,chairman of the MASSMA.
