Case against residents for assault on Bhojpuri actress & producer

Goregaon police have registered a case of assault against unidentified residents of Motilal Nagar after they allegedly beat up a Bhojpuri film actress and a producer last week.

Goregaon police have registered a case of assault against unidentified residents of Motilal Nagar after they allegedly beat up a Bhojpuri film actress and a producer last week.

According to the police,the actress,Lovy Shrivastav,stays in a flat in Motilal Nagar in Goregaon. On February 16,a producer had gone to meet her at the apartment for a script reading when the alleged incident took place.

When the producer left her building,the locals gathered around him and beat him up. They even damaged the producer’s car. On learning about the incident,Shivastav rushed to the rescue of her friend and was assaulted too.

The duo the informed the police who reached the spot and took Shrivastav to a hospital.

On seeing the police,the assailants dispersed. Shrivastav then went to Goregaon police station and lodged a complaint. The police have booked unidentified persons for assaulting Shrivastav and registered a non-cognisable offence for the assault on the producer,who received injuries.

“We are tracing and identifying the residents who assaulted the duo. When we went to the area to investigate,some of the locals told us they suspected that there was a prostitution racket in Shrivastav’s house. They also claimed that Shrivastav got different men to her house everyday,” said an officer from Goregaon police station,who did not wish to be named.

“We have registered the case and are verifying the claims made by the locals,” said Arun Jadhav,senior inspector of Goregaon police station.
