Police are looking for a driver who allegedly dumped the body of an octroi agent near Dahisar check post Wednesday morning.

Police are looking for a driver who allegedly dumped the body of an octroi agent near Dahisar check post Wednesday morning.

Police said at 10.30 am Wednesday,they received a call from residents of Wireless Compound that a body was thrown near the check post from a vehicle going towards Virar.

The body of a 30-35-year-old man had head injuries.

Police said the head had been smashed with a rock. The body was sent for post-mortem to Bhagwati Hospital.

“Lokesh Upadhyay was an octroi agent working at the Dahisar check post for the past three years,” said sub-inspector Pandurang Bhonde.

Officers investigating the case said they were not sure if the body was dumped by a moving vehicle.

Mumbai Marathon 2013 raises Rs 18 cr for charity

THE Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon,in its 10th edition this year,has raised a record Rs 18.61 crore for charity.

This was announced by Dr Indu Shahani,Chairperson,United Way of Mumbai,at a function held to felicitate the fundraisers in Nariman Point on Wednesday.

The Marathon organisers said a cross section of the city’s citizens,young and old,from all walks of life,came together and generated the amount for charity for causes of their choice.

The figure this year is an increase of nearly Rs 2.5 crore over the Rs 16.07 crore generated in 2012,and will benefit 230 NGOs as compared to 197 last year.
