The BJP president,in fact, has also urged the government to reconsider its views on the calamity in Uttarakhand and suggested that the Home Minister should declare it as a national tragedy.

He has also directed BJP workers across the country to mobilise relief materials for those affected and ensure it reaches the affected people.

The BJP had earlier suspended the jail bharo agitation in Uttarakhand, but the unravelling tragedy has forced it to suspend its agitation across the country.

The agitation was originally planned for May 27 to June 2,but the party postponed it in the wake of the May 25 Maoist killing of Congress leaders in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh. Now,the Uttarakhand disaster has forced the party to suspend its agitation.
