Bike-borne men attack college girl with blade

A 19-year-old student of D G Ruparel College in Matunga was allegedly attacked with a blade by two unidentified men.

A 19-year-old student of D G Ruparel College in Matunga was allegedly attacked with a blade by two unidentified men outside the college gate early Thursday morning,police said,adding that the girl escaped with minor injuries.

According to police,the victim,a first-year student of the Bachelor of Management Studies course,was walking towards the college at 7 am to appear for an exam when two motorcycle-borne men rushed at her from behind.

“The man riding pillion first pushed her and slashed her right arm with a blade. The girl,however,proceeded to appear for her exam. Midway through writing her paper,she felt giddy and was rushed to Hinduja Hospital. She was discharged from there after being tended to. She then approached the police station to register a complaint,” said Parshuram Kakad,senior inspector at Shivaji Park police station.

A complaint has been registered against unidentified persons under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.

Kakad said the assailants had covered their faces,making identification difficult. “The bike rider was wearing a helmet while the pillion rider was masked his face with a scarf. Our probe is under way but the motive behind the attack is not yet clear,” he said.
