The ban on drones, paragliders and microlight aircraft was extended by the Mumbai police for one more month keeping in light the possibility of anti-social elements using para gliders or microlight aircraft to carry out an attack. This comes in the wake of sighting of suspicious balloons.
A meeting of senior police officers in Western region of Mumbai is slated on Thursday to chalk out guidelines when it comes to paragliders. The order issued by DCP, Operations, Sanjay Barkund states that while drones, paragliders and microlight aircraft are banned, aerial surveillance through remote controlled drones is allowed.
An official from a paragliding association said they would like to communicate with police and give them a clear idea about how paragliding functions in order to tackle any security concern.
