Young Kabil Badami rallied from 0-2 to shock favourite R. Girish of Railways to advance to the final qualifying round,in the Bombay Gymkhana ‘Strokes’ Snooker Invitational Open Tournament on Monday.

Young Kabil Badami rallied from 0-2 to shock favourite R. Girish of Railways to advance to the final qualifying round,in the Bombay Gymkhana ‘Strokes’ Snooker Invitational Open Tournament on Monday. True to his reputation,formidable Girish raced to an early advantage even as Badami fired a significant break of 39 in the second frame. But Bombay Gymkhana lad Badami ignored the deficit and believed in himself to launch a spectacular comeback.

Badami thrived on significant breaks of 30s in the last three three frames to surge to a thrilling 35-66,54-74,46-14,63-41,63-36 win to move one step away from qualifying for the elite phase.

Islam Gymkhana champion Faisal Khan of Railways announced his arrival with a 99 clearance en route to an emphatic 3-0 win over Sunil Jain of Elphinstone Cricket Club in the third qualifying round. In a third round upset,Hitesh Kotwani of CCI overcame former senior state champion Rishabh Pandya of India Oil 63-40,5-82,57-26,50-62,67-22 in another thriller that went down to the wire.

Joining Kotwani in the fourth qualifying round were Delhi lads Pushpinder Singh and Varun Madan who registered 3-0 wins.

Lad shines for National CC

Riding on blistering innings by young Siddhesh Lad (102 off 48 balls) and his 129 run stand for the second wicket with Swapnil Pradhan,National Cricket Club clinched Prabodhan Mumbai T20 cricket by defeating DY Patil Sports Club by four wickets. Earlier,DY Patil posted a decent score of 179/9 with useful half centuries from Shoaib Shaikh (56 off 38 balls) and left handed Pankaj Jaiswal (52 off 27 balls).

Young Mohammedans win

Young Mohammedans beat Islam Gymkhana to eneter the finals of the 65th Salarjung Invitation Cricket Tournament organized by Islam Gymkhana. Sarfaraz Khan who has been consistent in the tournament (210 runs in 3 innings and twice not out) once again stole the show abd scored an unbeaten knock of 37 runs. Islam Gymkhana was bundled out in 115. For Islam gym Shahbaz Khan scored 30 and Ankur Singh (4 for 22) ripped Islam gymkhana’s batting. Young Mommedans replied with 116 for 3 and entered the finals.
