Vijay Kambli (32) allegedly told police he watched Jyoti (28),his wife of over 10 years, cry for help as she bled for over two hours. The couple stayed with their five-year-old son and Vijay’s younger brother Ajay,a bus driver.

Kambli allegedly murdered Jyoti as he “suspected her character”. Monday afternoon,he called her but found her phone switched off. Angry,he stormed into their house after work and started checking her call logs.

But Jyoti snatched her phone and they began fighting. Kambli then allegedly grabbed a kitchen kinfe and stabbed her repeatedly in the stomach.

“He says he sat on the bed for two hours, watching her plead and die. He left home only when he was sure she had died,” said Suresh Kinjle, senior inspector,MHB Colony police station.

Kambli allegedly used to fight with Jyoti every day. “He suspected her of having an affair as she would talk on her mobile phone late into the night. He started calling her frequently but found her phone busy on most occasions. This made him conclude she was having an affair,” said an officer.
