Actor Saif Ali Khan on Wednesday appeared before a metropolitan magistrate’s court here in connection with an assault case and sought the CCTV footage of the incident which allegedly took place at a hotel on February 22, 2012.
In July, the prosecution had filed an application, urging the court to issue warrants against the three accused as they had failed to appear before court for hearings.
However, the court had asked Saif and the two other accused to be present on September 10, failing which a warrant would be issued against the actor.
The court informed both the parties that on September 19, the next date of hearing, it would decide on how the CCTV footage, which is sealed as evidence and kept with police, could be made available to the accused.
Khan was arrested for allegedly punching an NRI businessman, Iqbal Mir Sharma, and his relative at Wasabi, a Japanese restaurant in the Taj Mahal hotel, on February 22, 2012. He secured bail from a local court immediately.
Khan and others have been charged under Section 325 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
