An argument over food reportedly ended in the murder of a 21-year-old man in Bhayender (West) early on Wednesday morning. Vinod Gupta — a native of Bihar — was stabbed to death,reportedly after he asked roommates if he could share the fish they cooked. Inspector Dinkar Pingle said the four men fled the scene soon. Gupta’s nephew had tried to call him,after which he contacted police.

Youth arrested for ramming into auto

The Juhu police,on Wednesday arrested a college student for crashing his car into a stationary auto rickshaw that led to minor injuries to its driver. Police said the incident occured when Vineet Paresh Shah (19),residing in Andheri (East),when Shah suddenly lost control near Vaikunthlal Mehta Road at Juhu in Vile Parle (West) and rammed into one of the two auto rickshaws parked at the junction.

Pay Diwali bonus to staff: HC to BMC

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the BMC to pay Diwali bonus to over 40,000 employees within six months. The employees had struck work last year in protest against the non-implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations despite a directive from an industrial court prohibiting them from going on strike.
