An 18-year-old girl from Andhra Pradesh allegedly committed suicide on Thursday by hanging herself in a hotel room in Andheri (East).

Police said two suicide notes, one written in Hindi and another in Telugu, was found in her room. The notes stated that she held nobody responsible for her death and instructed that her body be handed over to her mother.

The deceased, who has been identified as Ranjala Kusuma Shrisambhavi, was found hanging from a ceiling fan with her dupatta around 10 am in her room at Hotel Highway Residency by a waiter. Shrisambhavi had been staying at the hotel for the past three days, the police said.

Police officers said Shrisambhavi’s family had registered a missing person’s complaint at a police station in Andhra Pradesh on March 3.

While checking in,she had mentioned her address as Qutubullapur in Rajahmundry.

“The girl had checked into the hotel on Tuesday at around 1.30 pm,saying she had come to Mumbai for an interview with an Andheri-based company,” a police officer said.

The hotel staff allegedly told the police that Shrisambhavi had taken dinner on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, when the hotel reception staff called her on the intercom in her room to inquire whether she wanted to extend her stay, there was no reply. The manager then sent an attendant to the room, where he found her hanging.

“We have managed to contact her family. Shrisambhavi’s mother and brother will be arriving in Mumbai tonight. We will only be able to find out the possible reason behind her suicide once afte they arrive,” said S Talegaonkar,a senior police inspector of Vile Parle police station.
