45-year-old woman dies of H1N1 flu

The official cause of death has been declared Type I Respiratory Failure with Acute respiratory distress.

A forty-five year old woman who had been diagnosed with H1N1 influenza virus died at Kasturba Hospital on Wednesday. The diagnosis of the influenza virus was only obtained after the patient’s death.

The official cause of death has been declared Type I Respiratory Failure with Acute respiratory distress syndrome along with hyperthyroidism in the lung and hypertension. The H1N1virus was only uncovered while the autopsy.

Dr Mini Khetarpal said that H1N1 cases can often lead patients to die due to other diseases apart from the virus itself. “Most doctors feel that the heavy rains in the month of June are the cause of many H1N1 cases,” said Khetarpal. This is the sixth death and 125th H1N1 case in July.
