43 electroplating units shut down for flouting norms

The state government has shut down 43 electroplating units in the city for violating environment norms and functioning without obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state pollution control board.

The state government has shut down 43 electroplating units in the city for violating environment norms and functioning without obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state pollution control board. Minister of State for environment Sachin Ahir said that of the 140 electroplating units functioning in the city,77 were operating without NOCs. He said 43 units had not installed water and air pollution regulating equipment despite being asked to do so. Only 24 units have installed such equipment and 10 units were in the process of installing the same,he said.
