4 rob jeweller’s son of cash,valuables

Four persons allegedly vandalised a jeweller’s SUV,assaulted its three occupants and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 3.69 lakh.

Four persons allegedly vandalised a jeweller’s SUV,assaulted its three occupants and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 3.69 lakh at Marine Drive on Saturday evening. No arrests have been made so far.

The Marine Drive police said the incident occurred when Jayesh Zaveri’s son Jaymin (24) was driving the Innova on the north-bound stretch of the Meghdoot flyover around 7.45 pm. Jaymin,a resident of Altamount Road in Gamdevi,was with two friends — Dinesh Chale and Aslam Sayyed.

“Four men in a silver Swift intercepted Jaymin’s vehicle. They got off,vandalised the Innova and assaulted Jaymin and his two friends. They threatened Jaymin with a chopper and fled with a briefcase in the car containing the cash and valuables as well as a cell phone worth Rs 9,000,” said an officer.

Jaymin and his friends were taken to JJ hospital and discharged after first aid.

“The men had been keeping a tab on the victim and following him after he left his shop in south Mumbai. We are scanning the area for CCTV footage,” said an official.

The police said they were preparing sketches of the accused. The police are trying to locate the Swift.
