The Thane Police Crime Branch has booked 12 men and 14 women, including three Moroccan girls, who were detained in a raid Wednesday, for indecent behaviour and for consuming liquor and playing music without permits from concerned authorities. The police said the three Moroccan girls were ‘scantily clad’ and were dancing. According to Crime Branch officials, the raid was conducted on Wednesday evening in the Kasar Wadavli area on the Ghodbunder Road in Thane.
“We had received information that a rave party was underway at a private bungalow and conducted the raid accordingly. However, we did not find any narcotics or psychotropic substances at the spot. There was a group of men and women having a party, and three scantily dressed Moroccan girls were dancing in a way similar to belly dancing,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) R S Singal, Thane police. A total of 26 people were taken into custody while the bungalow was searched. The police recovered several bottles of liquor from the spot.
“Further inquiries revealed that the accused did not have permits for the liquor or for playing music on a loudspeaker from concerned authorities. We have booked them for indecent behaviour under the Indian Penal Code and for violations concerning liquor and music under the Prohibition Act,” Singal said.
The accused were arrested on Wednesday and were produced in court on Thursday, where they were released on bail, the police said.
