Two labourers were killed and four injured after a compound wall near a stone quarry in Navi Mumbai collapsed on their temporary residential quarters Sunday. Turbhe MIDC police said the mishap took place around 12.30 pm. Police identified the deceased as Arun Das (28) and Dinesh Das (32).

“Several labourers work at the quarry and have set up temporary quarters. A compound wall behind the quarters collapsed,” said a police officer.

The site supervisor informed police and fire brigade. Of the six labourers buried under the debris,four were rescued. They have been identified as Yogesh Chaudary (20),Arvind Kamble (21),Narendra Das (45) and Ulain Das (26) and are under treatment at Turbhe Municipal Hospital.

“A probe is on,” said senior inspector Suresh Bhosale.
