Ten persons were arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch Control (CB Control) unit on Friday from a hutment near the Hong Kong Bridge area in Byculla and seized 1,250 litres of adulterated milk that was allegedly being supplied to posh localities in south Mumbai.
According to Crime Branch officers,the raid took place around 4.30 am after the police received information that milk was being adulterated in the hutment and then being sold off in packets of big brands.
Our team raided the hutment and nabbed persons from there. The investigation is on, said Addl Commissioner of Police (Economic Offences Wing) Rajvardhan.
Senior inspector Rakesh Sharma of Crime Branch Control said the arrested persons hail from Andhra Pradeshs Nagonda district.
A case has been registered against them under sections of the IPC and also the Food Safety And Standards Act, said Sharma.
