The owners of 61 dyeing units, whose electricity connection has been suspended in the last two days for not following pollution norms, will meet Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday.

A delegation of industrialists will meet Science and Technology Principal Secretary Vishvnath Khanna before meeting Badal junior.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Harish Rai Dhanda said,“We are yet to get the copy of High Court orders which we are likely to get by tomorrow. We will meet the Principal Secretary before holding a meeting with Sukhbir Badal. The Punjab State Electricity Board has disconnected power supply to 55 units on Saturday and six more units the next day following the orders of the High Court. In order to win vote-bank politics, not only dyeing associations even political leaders are running from pillar to post to get the power supply resumed.

Gensets make their day
Though power supply to erring industries has been suspended, the purpose behind this remains unsolved as most of them are running their units on generators. While confirming the same,PSEB sources said a majority of the units are doing 50 per cent of their production work on generators. With no fine for disconnection or re-connection,the industrialists are sitting pretty cool as they know the political bosses will get their work done within this week.
