Residents of Threeke, Baddowal and Jhande villages and residents of some colonies along Threeke road protested against the Punjab Mandi Board and Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) on Saturday.
The pending work of constructing a road to Baddowal via Threeke (on the rear of Hotel Keys) has been pending for almost two years, causing great inconvenience to the commuters as well as the residents.
“Under the RTI Act, I got information that Rs 3.82 crore has been spent on this road till now. Punjab Mandi Board supplied information that GLADA has only paid Rs 2.37 crore while Rs 2.40 crore is still to be paid. Due to shortage of funds, work is pending and we are facing problems,” said Gagandeep Singh Threeke. However, Gurdeep Singh, sarpanch of Threeke village, said, “Monsoon is coming, and our difficulties will only increase from now onwards. Neither GLADA nor Mandi Board is concerned about completing the work. We have no option but to protest as multiple complaints have borne no fruit.”
