RESIDENTS of Krishna Nagar, Ghumar Mandi and adjoining areas have been suffering from water contamination for more than 10 days, with about four persons being admitted to private hospitals.

Residents, many of whom are taking treatment from private clinics, said that foul-smelling water was coming from taps. Nrata Ram, a resident, stated that his wife had to be hospitalised as her diarrohea could not be cured. Apart from this, two more patients of Krishna Nagar had to be admitted to Sirish Nursing Home.

Ram added that so far the MC team was not able to check the fault and a complaint had been registered in the mayor’s office.

However, not much efforts were made on Friday to set things right as most of the staff was busy because of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s function in the city.

The residents stated that if the MC did not repair the fault, they would get it repaired themselves.

The area is under Congress councillor Gurpreet Singh Gogi, who is out of the country these days.
