Two members of Bhushan gang held,kingpin at large

The city police has been successful in nabbing two members of the Bhushan gang involved in looting people at gunpoint.

The city police has been successful in nabbing two members of the Bhushan gang involved in looting people at gunpoint.

While Rakesh Kumar and Sukhwinder Singh were arrested,Bharat Bhushan,the kingpin,and Balraj Tuli managed to flee.

The police have also been successful in recovering two loaded pistols from the two accused who have confessed to have committed over a half a dozen incidents of looting and snatching.

ACP Raj Kumar and ACP Mukhtiar Singh said,“During a patrol,a PCR team received a tip-off that some members of this gang were planning strikes in the Simlapuri area. The PCR team informed the nearest police station which raided the area with a police party. While two members of the gang were nabbed,others managed to flee.”

“During interrogation,the accused told us that they used to conduct recce around banks and would strike when they found someone coming out of the bank with huge cash. Bharat Bhushan had been running a gang in Phillaur along with his brothers-in-law. However,when one of his brothers-in-law was arrested,Bhushan fled to Ludhiana and established a new gang here,” said ACP Raj Kumar.

The members of the gang are learnt to be unemployed youths with some of them being hooked on to drugs. With an aim to get rich quickly,these youths used to commit such crimes.
