Three die as car falls into Bhakra canal

Three cousins lost their lives as the car in which they were travelling fell into the Bhakra Canal near the Floating Restaurant in Sirhind in the wee hours of Sunday.

Three cousins lost their lives as the car in which they were travelling fell into the Bhakra Canal near the Floating Restaurant in Sirhind in the wee hours of Sunday. A pall of gloom descended at their home in Nirankari Mohalla near Manju Cinema as the news of death of three brothers spread in the area.

The deceased along with their friends had gone to Patiala on Saturday to attend a wedding. While on their way back,the driver of the car,who has been identified as Varinder Kumar,lost control of the car and fell into the Bhakra Canal.

While Varinder and one Mani,who was sitting on the front seat,managed to swim to safety,Viki,Mandeep and Mintu were not lucky enough. The search for their bodies is still on.

Meanwhile,the police have booked Varinder Kumar for the accident and he also also found under the influence of liquor. The boys as per the neighbours work in a liquor vend.
