Tewari writes to Azad,seeks trauma centre for Civil Hospital

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari on Tuesday sought setting up of a special trauma centre at the Civil Hospital,Ludhiana,which could work as an outstation centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),New Delhi.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari on Tuesday sought setting up of a special trauma centre at the Civil Hospital,Ludhiana,which could work as an outstation centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),New Delhi.

In a letter written to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad,Tewari said although there were private medical facilities in Ludhiana,the biggest city in the north with a population of over 30 lakhs,there was no specialised facility in the Civil Hospital.

The minister,who represents Ludhiana parliamentary constituency,said since not everybody could afford to go to the private hospitals,it was important to improve the facilities in the government-run Civil Hospital so that people could get treatment at affordable prices.
