Teenager sent to juvenile home for bid to rape minor

The Sherpur chowki on Wednesday late evening lodged a case against 17-and-a-half-year-old Ramandeep Singh for making an attempt to rape a four-year-old girl in Dholewal chowk area.

He was produced in a local court on Thursday and was sent for 14 days in juvenile home. In his statement given to the police,he confessed his crime and said that he was sorry for his mistake. He gave this statement in front of his father Surinder Singh.

Ramandeep,a juvenile,was arrested by the police after registering an FIR under sections 376 and 511 of the IPC. According to Sherpur Chowki incharge Pavittar Singh,about eight-10 families live in one building near Dholewal Chowk area on rent. The family of the girl in question and Ramandeep live in the same building.

On Wednesday evening when kids of the building were playing together,Ramandeep took the four-year-old girl on the top floor in a room. The girl’s

mother was not at home at that time and when she did not

find her daughter on her return,she went upstairs searching for her and found her inside the room with Ramandeep. “It was an attempt to rape. We have sent the girl for medical examination and her condition is stated to be stable,” said Pavittar Singh.
