Sukhbir warns of strict action

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday said that strict action will be taken against those uploading derogatory messages or images on social networking sites against any religion under the provisions of IT Act and Cyber laws.

Badal who also holds the home portfolio said that posting of objectionable material and pictures regarding any religion or any religious personalities on social networking websites would not be tolerated. He said that he has directed DGP Punjab to take strict against people responsible.

He was in city to attend a state-level function in memory of Dr B R Ambedkar on his 58th death anniversary. He added that the construction of the Ambedkar Memorial on the Ludhiana-Delhi Highway has begun. He said that the state has enhanced the proposed budget of Rs 150 crore for building up Bhagwan Valmiki Shrine at Amritsar Ram Tirath to Rs 250 crore.

Meanwhile, the mother of Meena Kalia, whose body was found on October 22, met the Deputy CM on Saturday. She told Badal that police has till date not registered an FIR with murder charges in case. Sukhbir told commissioner Pramod Ban to re-investigate the case and prepare a fresh report.
