Announces decision after meeting Captain Amarinder Singh

Senior Congress leader and former Ludhiana (Urban) District Congress Committee President Jagmohan Sharma today retired from the contest in favour of the party candidate Gurmail Singh Pahalwan at the behest of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh.

Sharma announced his decision after a meeting with Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh at his residence early this morning.

He told the PCC president that he has been a loyal and disciplined worker of the party for the last 38 years and had decided to retire in favour of the party candidate from Ludhiana East,Gurmail Singh Pahalwan. He said that he would work to ensure the victory of the party candidate from this constituency.

Sharma had been busy campaigning till Monday and could be seen in the markets along with the beats of dhol,seeking votes for himself.

According to Sharma,Captain Amarinder assured him that the Congress respected his long association with and service to the party. He said that he appreciated Sharma’s sentiments and once Congress comes to power,it will ensure that Sharma is given due respect according to his stature and seniority in the party.
