The doctors said that on diagnosis a large mass neuroblastoma in left adrenal gland was found. The tumour 6kg had a well defined margin with 26x20x15 cms involving left adrenal gland. As the tumour mass was very large in size, adequate chemotherapy and radiotherapy were given to which the patient responded to some extent, but later the patient complained of excruciating pain in abdomen, difficulty in breathing and severe malnutrition, which necessitated them to do the life saving surgery.
The patient was operated on August 21 by a team of expert surgeons comprising Dr Amreek Singh (Surgeon),Dr Dig Vijay Singh (Urosurgeon),Dr BK Mohindra (Anesthetist) Dr Gurdeep Singh Sodhi (Anesthetist),Dr RS Sibia (Pediatrician),Dr Nardeep Singh (Pediatrician) and other OT staff.
The patient was operated successfully. It was basically a left adrenal tumour which was adherent to spleen and left non functioning kidney. Hence, the surgery involved the removable of left adrenal mass along with spleen and left kidney with carefully preservation of all the major vessels, mesentery and pancreas. The patient was shifted to recovery room for post operative surgical care on ventilator support and now she is stable and is on oral diet, the doctor said.
