Heavy rainfall and the resulting chill could not deter candidates from campaigning. They were out on the field to meet the masses despite bad weather.

MP Manish Tewari was seen campaigning for the candidates with an umbrella in hand. He went to Gill constituency to campaign for Malkait Singh Dakha while in Ludhiana East he campaigned for Gurmail Singh Pehlwaan.

Tewari is also supposed to meet rebel Congress candidates, revealed sources.

In Ludhiana district, four rebels are contesting after being denied tickets from Congress. They are Ashok Bagga from Ludhiana central,Inderjit Singh Kasabad from Sahnewal,Rajeshinder Singh from Jagraon and Jagmohan Sharma from Ludhiana East. So far,no one has withdrawn their nominations despite the warning letters issued by the Congress high command.

The MP is likely to campaign in the city for about 15 days in different constituencies.

Apart from this,in Jagraon SAD candidate S R Kler was seen campaigning in villages of Hathur. Kler said,“I had no umbrella with me today because I had no idea about this unpredictable weather. I left home very early. So got drenched in between. But it is all part of the game.”

Bharat Bhushan Ashu,Congress candidate from Ludhiana west was also seen campaigning in wet clothes while his wife Mamta Ashu was doing door to door campaigning in the rain.

The weather no doubt spoiled the plans of the candidates, most of the meetings had to be shifted indoors while a few had to be cancelled.
