A 17-year-old outh employed as a domestic help in Ludhiana was found dead under mysterious circumstances Monday. On Tuesday, relatives of Bhagirath, who was a resident of Rajpura Colony, protested outside the home of his employer Sushil Kumar Kaura, a hosiery owner at Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, and later near Nehru Rose Garden alleging that the death was caused by negligence of the employers.

The family of the deceased claimed that Bhagirath was not happy with the “attitude” of the employer’s wife and had not gone to work for the past few days. On Monday, his employers came to their residence and took him away forcibly, they alleged. The family also alleged that on Monday late, the employers came and left him outside their home in an unconscious state and that he died while being taken to a hospital.

However, Sushil Kumar told police that they had agreed to Bhagirath’s demand of increasing his salary. On Monday, they had gone to pick him up from his home as he was unwell, he claimed. He also claimed that they even took him to a doctor and then “dropped him home.”

Inspector Pawan Kumar, SHO division number 8 police station said the post-mortem report was awaited. “The deceased was unwell and was vomiting frequently as per the employers. He died on the way to Civil Hospital. We will file FIR once the cause of death is clear,” he said.
