Police raid city hotel, arrest 2 couples

A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.

The division no. 1 police raided a hotel in old city area and arrested two couples from a room in a compromising position on Thursday morning.

The police also arrested the owner and manager of the hotel for renting out rooms for immoral activities.

The police raided the hotel after getting a tip-off. The area residents had also complained to the police several times regarding illegal activities in the hotel.

Inspector Dharampal, the SHO at division no. 1 police station, said a raid was conducted at Hotel Ankit and the police arrested two couples from the hotel in a compromising situation. The hotel owner and manager rent out rooms for thousands of rupees for a few hours.

The accused had been running illegal activities in the hotel for the last six months and after getting information from sources, the police raided the hotel, added Dharampal.

A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.

Around 10-12 couples, said an area resident, visit the hotel on a daily basis. Apart from Hotel Ankit, there are several hotels in the area where illegal activities go unchecked.
