Recover Rs 2.85 lakh of Rs 3 lakh paid to kidnappers by girl’s father Arjun

The district police have been able to nab the four kidnappers who were wanted in kidnapping of six-year-old Nisha. Nisha was kidnapped on February 18 and the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from Arjun,Nisha’s father. After a thorough combing operation, the police had been successful in recovering Nisha who was left by the kidnappers in Jeevan Nagar area on Sunday after they received Rs 3 lakhs as a part ransom.

The four arrested have been identified as Dhandari Kalan resident Anil Kumar,Moti Nagar resident Umesh Verma,New Moti Nagar resident Karan Gupta and Jamalpur resident Ram Chander. The police have also recovered Rs 2.85 lakh from the kidnappers, which is a part of the Rs 3 lakh that had been paid to the kidnappers by Arjun.

ADCP Sushil Kumar and Sahnewal ACP Jaswinder Singh informed,“From day one,we knew that Nisha had been kidnapped by someone known to the family. Anil Kumar, who had hatched the entire conspiracy, lives in the area where Nisha lives with her parents and siblings. Her father Arjun had brought a new truck while Anil was facing his father’s ire for he had stolen Rs 1 lakh from him. Anil, along with three other men, figured that Nisha’s father had a lot of money and would pay a huge ransom for his daughter.”

The police informed that Anil Kumar and the others first stole a motorcycle from the Focal Point area. They then picked up Nisha on February 18 while she was playing with some friends near her home and took her to Jamalpur.

Nisha was kept at Ram Chander’s residence. The kidnappers then snatched a mobile phone from a chowkidaar and made a call to Nisha’s father, demanding Rs 5 lakhs as ransom.

They also warned Arjun that his daughter would be killed if he approached the police. By this time, the police had gotten into action and asked Arjun to maintain conversations with the kidnappers so that their mobile phone locations could be traced.

The kidnappers made a second call the next day and Arjun agreed to pay a part of the ransom. A person came on cycle to claim Rs 3 lakh as ransom and left Nisha behind on Sunday.

The police let the person go so that they could nab the others involved in the crime. Gurbans Singh Bains,in-charge,CIA Staff 2,helped the Sahnewal police locate the place from where the calls were being made and the police were able nab all the kidnappers.

The cops informed that all the four men are unemployed. “Anil Kumar is known for making mischief. He was thrown out of his last job as a compounder because of his conduct. The men are also addicts. They had planned that from the Rs 5 lakh that they would get as ransom, they would pay Rs 1 lakh to Anil’s father and distribute the rest among themselves. The ‘make a quick buck’ bug did all the four men in,” added ADCP Sushil Kumar.
