Police catch students in possession of habit forming drugs

In the ongoing drive being conducted by the Ludhiana police,habit forming drugs were recovered today from students at two different places and heroin from a woman at Rajib Gandhi Colony.

In the ongoing drive being conducted by the Ludhiana police,habit forming drugs were recovered today from students at two different places and heroin from a woman at Rajib Gandhi Colony. This is a special drive introduced by DCP Gurpreet Singh Toor to keep a tab on anti-social elements in the city.

In this drive,two students Amit Kumar and Sukhpreet,both from Ropar,were found with a stock of habit forming drugs at a naka on Gahelewal village in Koomkalan.

These included 201 syrups and 150 capsules which they had purchased for personal consumption. They were riding a black motorbike.

In addition to this even at Ladhowal police post Rajinder Singh,a resident of Jalandhar,was found with 400 bottles of syrup and 4,000 capsules.

Meanwhile,the division 7 police team arrested Anu,wife of one Anil Kumar,resident of Rajiv Gandhi Colony,with 15 gram of heroin.

Cases have been registered against all the above mentioned persons under the NDPS Act.

Toor informed that in total 836 vehicles were checked at different places,out of which 111 were rounded up and 22 were challaned for various reasons. Fourteen vehicles were confiscated as well.

This drive will continue even further as well,he announced.
