PAU professor murder: Three sent to police custody

The three accused charged with the murder of PAU professor Charanjeet Singh Malhi were remanded in one-day police custody today. Meanwhile,the police are on the lookout for two more accused,who are still at large.

The three accused charged with the murder of PAU professor Charanjeet Singh Malhi were remanded in one-day police custody today. Meanwhile,the police are on the lookout for two more accused,who are still at large.

The Sarabha Nagar police pleaded for the police remand of the arrested accused,so that the remaining two accused could also be nabbed.

Accepting the police plea,the court sent the deceased’s wife Nimanjeet Kaur,son Simrat and the latter’s friend Jaskaran Singh Bhullar to police custody. The trio was arrested in Bulara village on Friday.

PAU scientist Dr Charanjeet Singh Malhi was stabbed to death at his house in BRS Nagar on Thursday morning allegedly by his son. Two other accused Mandeep Singh and Hasrhdeep Singh are still absconding.

A dispute between Professor Malhi and his estranged wife Nimanjeet Kaur is being seen as the motive behind the murder.
