In a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative taken by ACP (Traffic) Dhruman Nimbale, people passing by Dandi Swami chowk on Tuesday were in for surprise when they saw the walls of the Police Lines sparkling with creativity and colours.
The change happened as Nimbale had allowed children from 12 schools to paint the dull walls of the Police Lines with social messages in colourful patterns.
While Drishti School depicted inequality and gap between the rich and the poor,BCM,Dugri, showed the position of a woman in society. GGN Public School brought all religions on the same platform and Government Senior Secondary School,PAU,depicted the Hassda Khedda Punjab.
India Discovers Herself Again-Together We Can,said Sat Paul Mittal School and BCM,Chandigarh Road, with patriotic colours of saffron, white and green. A request from an innocent girl to let her see the world sent some shockwaves against female foeticide by Tagore Public School and BCM,Shastri Nagar.
However,it was the painting made by Sacred Heart Convent,Sarabha Nagar, which depicted the actual position of traffic police vis-a-vis traffic chaos in Ludhiana and asked the residents If They Can,Why Cant We?
Other show stealers were the paintings on the themes of child labour depicted by GNIPS,Model Town, and the spirit to say Jai Hind with respect and dignity by GRD Academy.
ACP (Traffic) Nimbale said,I actually never thought this little effort will result in this. Look at the beauty of art! I am totally speechless. We never announced it as a competition because every message is unique and every painting the prettiest. Its about participation and thats why we gave every student a shield and certificate.
