Continuing with its demolition drive, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation on Tuesday pulled down two structures on Jagirpur road near Samrala Chowk. The structures were extensions of two homes and encroached 6 to 7 feet area on road. However, before the MC team reached there, the owners were themselves demolishing the encroachments.

A team of more than 100 policemen along with officials of the MC building branch led the drive. ATP headquarters Kamaljit Kaur and ATP Zone A Harpreet Ghai were present.

Talking to Newsline, Ghai said, “Action was taken as per orders of the High Court.” The demolition drive planned for Wednesday in Jamalpur was called off. As per sources, the decision came after appointment of P S Ghuman, head (building branch), as an observer for counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha election.

“There are around 15 encroachments in Jamalpur. Now action will be taken after May 16 only,” said the source.
