A man was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbour after a spat over ‘loud music’ on Friday, the Ludhiana police said. They identified the victim as Mutwafi Shashi Shekhar, 39, a resident of Jain Colony in Focal Point area. His neighbour Amrit Preet Singh, 25, has been arrested.

Police claimed that the arrested suspect is an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker. ADCP-2 Shalinder Singh said a membership slip of AAP had been found from the suspect’s residence.

The victim’s father, Kumar Nishad, told police that he along with his son Shashi Shekhar had gone to the suspect’s residence and requested him to lower the volume of his music player.

Nishad said the two youths entered into argument and that Amrit Preet started hurling abuses and later stabbed his son several times with a knife.

“He fled the spot while we took our son to Apollo Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” Nishad said.
“The suspect was living in a rented room opposite the victim’s home,” ADCP-2 Shalinder Singh said.
