Five days after a minor teenage girl’s body was found hanging at her residence in Barsal village of Jagraon, the police Thursday claimed she did not commit suicide but was strangled to death by her brother as he suspected her of having an affair. The Ludhiana rural police claimed the accused had found her sister with a man at their home. On October 7, the body of the 16-year-old girl was found. Her 22-year-old brother strangulated his sister with her dupatta and hanged her dead body with the ceiling fan, police said.
The brother was arrested for the murder and another man, with whom he had allegedly seen her sister, was also held. The victim’s father claimed that the man used to ‘molest’ her daughter.
