Expressing concern over the incident of brawl in Kuwait after which 24 Punjabi youth were detained by the Kuwait police, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that he would soon talk to Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to immediately providing all possible help to the Punjabis in distress and urge the Centre to make use of all diplomatic channels to ensure their safety.

Talking to mediapersons on the first day of his three-day thanksgiving tour in Talwandi Sabo assembly constituency, Badal said that the secretary of External Affairs Ministry had informed him about the efforts being made to help the Punjabis injured and arrested in Kuwait brawl. He said that the Union government was only authorised to take up such issues with other countries and the states had no role to play except urging the Centre to take appropriate action in such cases. Taking stock of the developmental works being executed in the constituency, Badal directed heads of the various departments to ensure quality and transparency in every possible way. The CM also directed that these projects should be inspected after one month and if any irregularity is found in the work, stern action would be taken against the erring officials.

Thanking the people of the constituency, Badal said that by making the SAD-BJP candidate Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu win by a huge margin, the constituency’s people have created history.
