During the common entrance test (CET) conducted by the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) for three of its courses on Wednesday,a section of parents of students appearing for the examination cried foul over the seating arrangements and protested while the examination was on.

Parents objected to the seating arrangement of the students, demanding to know why 83 candidates were made to sit in the examination hall of GADVASU campus while other 1,540 students were given R S Model Senior Secondary School,Shastri Nagar as their examination centre.

Parents first created a ruckus in school campus and then moved outside to Ishmeet Singh Chowk where they gathered and started blocking the traffic, asking GADVASU authorities to explain. GADVASU authorities led by registrar Dr P D Juyal reached the school and tried to calm the parents, but in vain.

Dr P D Juyal, registrar,GADVASU,speaking to Newsline said,“The seating arrangements for 83 candidates who have studied both Biology and Mathematics at 10+2 level and applied for both B.V.Sc. & A.H./B.F.Sc. and B. Tech. (Dairy Technology)courses was made in campus. The paper for these candidates was four hours in duration due to the additional portion of Biology/ Mathematics. However for those candidates who have applied for a single course, the seating arrangement was made in both the schools and the paper was of three hours’ duration.” The ruckus went on till 1 pm and parents dispersed only after the examination ended.
