The Punjab Police on Tuesday nabbed five of the seven alleged kidnappers of Manish Bharara,son of industrialist Harminder Pal. Bharara and his driver, Hem Lal,were

allegedly abducted on Saturday night from Doraha.

Bharara was returning from his transformers manufacturing factory in Doraha in his BMW,when he was reportedly kidnapped with his driver by four persons at gun point. His BMW car was found abandoned along the road.

Sources said that Bharara’s family received a Rs 5-crore ransom call. Apart from recovering arms and vehicles,the police also recovered Rs 4.61 crore from the possession of the kidnappers,but they did not reveal if the money was a part of the ransom paid by the family.

Bharara and Lal returned home on Monday night,while the accused were nabbed on Tuesday morning.

Paramjit Singh Gill,Commissioner of Ludhiana,revealed that as the safety of the victims was more important,it was decided that no hasty action would be taken.

He added that the police first nabbed the master mind,Guru Arpan Chauhan,and later arrested Deepali Bassi,Tonny,Sonu Chaursia and Himmat Singh. Amit Kumar and Sahil managed to escape.

All the adjoining states of Punjab were alerted about the details of the accused and their vehicle number. A special police team headed by Inspector Harpal Singh,SHO of Sarabha Nagar,was sent to Hamirpur in liaison with the Himachal Pradesh Police to nab the accused.

The police nabbed the vehicle (Alto Car). However,the two accused managed to escape.

Gill said that the police had recovered three .32 bore pistols,24 cartridges of .32 bore,four police uniforms,5 Samsung mobile handsets,nine SIM cards,one hand cuff,a walkie-talkie set,one Swift Car,an I 20 car,a motor bike and 130-gm gold jewellery.
