A day before the court breaks for a 45-day holiday period, shopkeepers on Ferozepur Road earned a major reprieve after the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday allowed parking on the road for an hour as opposed to the earlier 15 minutes.

The court also directed the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to take a call on whether to open the sealed buildings after scrutinising the site plan and other relevant documents.

Advocate Harpeet Sandhu, the counsel for Olivia complex, which has been sealed by the MC,said: “The MC within 4 days of receiving documents has to consider opening the building as per the orders.”

He added that ‘Olivia complex has already made a pathway to basement of complex for parking and staircase has been removed and now there should be any problem for not opening the building.’ The next date of hearing is July 10.
