With an objective to promote energy efficient practices,which would further enhance the competitiveness of textile sector of Punjab,the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) organised a one-day workshop on enhancing competitiveness through energy efficiency with special focus on textile Industry. Bakhshish Singh,Additional Director of Industries,Government of Punjab,was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the workshop. Welcoming experts and delegates to the workshop,Inderjit Nagpal,Chairman,CII Ludhiana Zonal Council,remarked that,One of the key energy intensive sector in northern region is textiles and needless to say that Ludhiana being the hub where numerous large,medium and small Industries today are competing not only in domestic but in international market as well. Increasing cost of power coupled with ever widening gap between demand and supply has made it imperative for industry to look at innovative solutions that can help conserve energy at our shop floors. More than 100 delegates from various textile units situated across the state participated in the workshop.
