Two bikers robbed a businessman of Rs 7 lakh in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened near Gill Chowk when two bikers riding Pulsar snatched a bag containing Rs 7 lakh from Rajesh Chaudhry, who works as a manager with Jagdish Dairy.

“I had withdrawn Rs 7 lakh from the bank and was going towards our dairy which is near the bank. Just as I reached the main door of the dairy, the bikers came from behind, pushed me and took away the money. When I screamed for help, dairy workers came out to help me. We tried to follow the bikers but they ran away towards the Dhurri line,” said Chaudhry.

He told the police that visiting the bank situated on the corner of the main road was his routine, and today too he went to the bank to withdraw money to make payments. Both the bikers were young. While one of them was a Sikh –he was wearing a cap — the other was clean-shaven. Chaudhary could not read the number plate of the motorcycle as its size was too small.

ACP Mukhtiar Singh, who visited the spot, said,”The dairy is located very close to the bank, and the bank has CCTV cameras. So,we should be able to get a video footage of the bikers. We have set up nakas at various places to nab the culprits.”

A case of robbery has been registered against unknown snatchers.
