A letter was issued by the Belan brigade on Saturday to Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu who till date has not clarified his stand on drug and liquor-free elections. Belan brigade is a group of women promoting drugs-free campaigning in Ludhiana. Anita Sharma, president of the brigade said, “On Women’s Day we invited all candidates to vow for drugs-free campaign in Ludhiana. Except Congress candidate Bittu, all candidates — Ayali, Phoolka and Bains attended. We want Bittu to take a stand immediately.” On Women’s day, the group made all candidates pledge that they will not distribute drugs or liquor to get votes. However, Bittu never turned up and sent his representative who was shunned out by the brigade.
