Protesting against alleged use of official machinery by SAD-BJP candidate Hakam Singh Giaspura from Ludhiana South, independent candidate Balwinder Singh Bains has complained to the Punjab Election Commission. Bains was expelled from SAD and his ticket from South was taken back after his brother Simarjit Singh Bains decided to contest as an independent from Atam Nagar.
Bains said,Hakam Singh Giaspura is also the mayor of MC Ludhiana and he is using the official vehicles of corporation and its staff in election campaign, violating all norms. The police officials working in MC,junior engineers, clerical staff members are being used openly and even official vehicle of MC and gypsy are being used by the candidate.
Bains asked the EC to look into this complaint and take suitable action.
It needs to be mentioned that Bains brothers and Hakam Singh had a strained relationship with each other even when they were in the same party. They have now come out in the open to give each other a tough fight.
Bains said,We are expecting more such violations because the candidate had done so even in the past. So we expect the EC to take swift action so that peaceful elections can take place in Punjab.
Despite repeated attempts,Hakam Singh was not available for comments.
Meanwhile,in the ongoing election campaign,Simarjit Singh Bains alleged that his SAD rival Hira Singh Gabria from Atam Nagar had always mislead people by his corrupt ways. Earlier in the MC elections and SGPC elections, the SAD candidate had always cheated the masses, and now the time has come for a change, said Bains.
